Purpose of the Tennis Ireland Participation & Club Development Committee

The purpose of the newly formed Tennis Ireland Participation & Club Development Committee is to help and support all Tennis Clubs across Ireland to develop an individual Club Development Plan which collectively will increase the number playing tennis in Clubs by 20% by 2020. Official Club membership numbers in 2015 are approximately 60,000. An extra 12,000 players at  average sub of €200 will bring €2.4 million to tennis, ie €2.1 million for Clubs and €150k for the Provinces and €150k for Tennis Ireland from subs & levies.  

The Tennis Ireland Participation & Development Committee also aims to help improve engagement with, and offer support to, Clubs of all sizes to enable them to augment and maintain their club development strategy, support their internal structures  and implement their development plans by increasing the awareness of Club Committees’ of the valuable benefits that this can bring directly to their own Club, and also to Tennis in Ireland.

Participation & Club Development Plan Work Shop

at DCU on Saturday 13th February 2016 at 11am to 2pm

 

Participation & Club Development Strategic Objective to:-

Assist Clubs to increase membership by 20% by 2020, creating an extra €2.4m through additional subscriptions.

 

All Tennis Club Committee members, Club Coaches, Parks Tennis and Provincial Branch members are invited to attend the Tennis Ireland Participation & Club Development  Plan work shop at DCU on Saturday 13th February 2016 from 11am to 2pm.  The work shop will include the following;

AGENDA

 

  1. Introduction & Draft Tennis Ireland Participation & Club Development Plan and likely inhibitors to implementation – 15 minutes- George Lucas (Chairman of TI Participation & Club Development Committee)

 

  1. Case studies from good practice- Clubs- Share & Learn- 45 mins- George Lucas and Robert Cummins

 

  1. Tennis Ireland Development Team-Progress & Support- 20 minutes- Roger Gerraghty (Tennis Ireland Director of Development)

 

  1. Club Checklist- 10  minutes- Eugene Bergin

 

  1. Lunch & Networking- 30 minutes

 

  1. Group work- 30 minutes- 2 Questions
    1. How can the draft plan be improved?
    2. How can the inhibitors to progress be overcome?

 

7) Feedback & Summary- 30 mins
