Match-Plays

LEINSTER MATCH-PLAY SERIES

The Provincial and National match-plays were introduced in 2002 to provide competition during the months of the year without Open Tournaments run by Clubs.

Information on current match-play is published as soon as dates and venues are confirmed. Online entry is available on “Our Tournaments” webpage.

The draws used are different from the standard knock-out draw. Players are guaranteed a minimum of two matches and they have to lose two before they are out of the event. They are run twice in the year:

Winter Match-play

From late October to Christmas:

U12, U14, U16 & U18 Regional (Qualifying) Match-plays are usually during the Halloween period. A given number of players will qualify to play in the next phase: the Leinster Provincial Match-plays.

U12, U14, U16 & U18 Leinster Provincial Match-plays are usually around the end of November. They start on Friday afternoon and end on the Sunday. The draw is limited to 16 players. Players compete for positions and may have from 2 to 6 matches over the weekend. The number of players that will go into the National Match-play varies accordingly to how well Leinster players did in the previous National Match-play.

U12, U14, U16 & U18 National Match-plays are one or two weekends before Christmas.

U10 match-plays are run separately as part of the Tennis10s circuit.

On-line Entry becomes available sometime mid-September.

U12, U14, U16 & U18 National Match-plays are usually the last weekend before Easter, but may vary depending on when is Easter.
