Tennis Leinster Squads
Squad Details
Tennis Leinster’s prestigious squad programme offers a limited number of places to selected junior players who demonstrate strong potential. Once selected players are grouped into squads based on age, playing ability and goals. This structure ensures each child receives tailored coaching and competitive opportunities suited to their level, helping them progress through the performance pathway in a supportive, high-performance environment.
Leinster Performance Squad
The top players will be invited on to the Leinster Performance Squad.
This group will consist of players 14-18 years of age.
The Performance Squad will train twice a week, five hours per week in total. Training will take place in DCU.
The training will be periodised through the year. Training prior to Tennis Season will have an added focus on injury prevention, movement, flexibility and speed, along with tactics and psychological readiness.
Development Squad
This squad will be made up of developing performance players aged 12+ who are not currently in the top rankings and who may not have the ambition or potential to play at an international level. Players who improve may move to the Leinster Performance Squad.
This squad will train twice a week, five hours in total per week. Trainning will take place in DCU.
U15 Squad Donnybrook
An advanced training programme for U15+ players aiming to develop their game and performance in a competitive fast paced environment. Training will take place one a week 3 hours in Donnybrook.
U14 Squad DCU
A competitive training programme for like minded U14 players. Training will take place twice a week in DCU. This squad offers increased training hours combining technical, tactical and physical work in a supportive and challenging environment.
Next Generation Squads
These squads are made up of the top players from the Tennis 10s Leinster Pathway.
The ultimate success of the LT programme hinges on the nurturing and development of children at this level, so the Next Generation Squad has a huge role to play in Leinster Tennis.
The players’ first experience should be a positive one and lay strong foundations for the journey ahead. Technical development will be a large part of their training, and we will aim to prepare these young players for transition into the Leinster Elite squad or Development squad.
Children who are showing potential in their club programme, and already participating in Leinster-run tournaments, will be identified through the club ID days.
The programme will consist of two sessions per week in DCU.
U9 Squad Shankill
This squad involves the region’s top junior players who are selected and benefit from specialised, high level coaching in adition to their clubs programme. Training will take place twice a week in Shankill.
Regional Squads
The Tennis Leinster Regional Squad is for young players who show strong promise and talent in tennis. These players are invited to join provincial training groups to help them improve their game.
Training takes place at Laytown/Naas twice a week with a total of four hours per week. Sessions focus on skills, tactics, fitness, and match practice.
Performance LT Coaching Programme
LT Philosophy

It is exemplary coaching that identifies, nurtures and maximises the champion inside talented young junior players, transforming passion and potential into real skill and performance.
Leinster Tennis is delighted to introduce LT, an innovative coaching programme designed to cultivate talent in high-performance junior players and optimise their development.
The primary aim of this new programme is develop the talents of our U 10’s – U 18’s Leinster players.
The latest in sports science; methodologies of the International Tennis Federation and focused coaching will challenge the players to be the best they can be.
Technology & Elite Training Methods
The goal is to find those players with that edge; that raw talent of which champions are made, and hone it into superb, consistent performance.
Skilled coaches with a history of success on the court will work hand-in-hand with knowledgeable Club Coaches for a synergistic approach to player advancement.
Only the most promising of junior players will be invited to take one of the limited places on the programme.
