12th Master'University BNP Paribas (Marcq-en-Baroeul, France)

Team Ireland have participated in the BNP Paribas Master U World Team Championship for the last 12 years but certainly performed at their highest level to date.

Ireland received a tough 1st round match against the eventual winners, the UK, where we lost 6-1 with a great win for the girls doubles team of Jane Fennelly & Jennifer Timotin.

Ireland rallied and outplayed a very competitive Russia 6-1. We had never beaten Russia in this event and although beaten by the UK a day previous, Ireland went out extremely composed.

For the 5th and 6th place playoff we played a very talented French team and unfortunately were unable to secure any points.

The coaching combination of Gary Cahill and Jamie Pilkington and probably our most talented team to date with our Men's lineup of Peter Bothwell, Simon Carr and Padraig Kilcoyne and our women's lineup of Jenny Timotin, Jane Fennelly and Lauren Deegan expressed dedication and commitment from the beginning until the end.

We would like to thank Leinster Tennis and Tennis Ireland for all their support to date and as always next year we will endeavor a go a little further again.
